Fixed and flying dies on roll forming machine

1、 Fixed die.
In the auxiliary processing technology of punching and cutting profiles, the stamping structure used is similar. However, when designing a fixed stamping die, it is necessary to consider the subsequent rolling forming and other processing processes. Other factors that need to be considered include the direction of profile burrs, the spacing from the punching point to the forming line, how to cut, and in which direction of the strip to be locally cut, the continuity of the profile, and the influence of warping at the punching point.
In most cases, the stamping dies used in fixed operations are similar to those used in stamping workshops, except that the stamping dies used on rolling forming production lines have a cycle of processes such as feeding, stopping, and performing. These organizations are very common structures that require special consideration of certain elements during design. As follows:
1. Product direction.
2. Requirements for subsequent processing of profiles
3. The final product may be very long
4. Different length styles
5. The combination of the initial fixed punch and the subsequent flying punch.
2、 Flying die.
The function of a flying die and a fixed die is the same, but their structure and installation method are different. Fixed punching molds are fixed on machines and are used on specific profile production lines, such as rolling forming machines with lower power. The flying die can slide on the track, and there is no need to stop during the cutting process, which can greatly increase the equipment's output power.
During the operation of the punch die, it follows the profile and accelerates from the initial position to the maximum speed, then slows down, stops, accelerates in the opposite direction, slows down, and finally stops at the initial position. The time required for the entire stroke is generally between 0.15 seconds and 1.5 seconds.
The acceleration organization of stamping dies is generally the collision effect between the upper organization and the stamping die components during acceleration or deceleration on the fixed plate of the lower mold. So, flying dies have higher strength support columns and guide rails than fixed molds.
