Fixed and flying dies on rolling forming machines

2023-08-15
In the rolling forming process, the punching of molds is often used, and according to the device structure and working method, punching molds can be divided into fixed punching molds and flying punching molds. Fixed dies are fixed and stationary, while flying dies can slide within a section of the slide track and move according to the method of profile movement, tracking the profile for punching. Flying dies are generally used on expensive equipment and have very high power.

1、 Fixed die.

In the auxiliary processing technology of punching and blocking of profiles, the selected stamping structure is similar. However, when planning a fixed punch, it is necessary to consider the subsequent rolling forming and other processing processes. Other factors that need to be considered include the direction of profile burrs, the distance from the punching point to the forming line, how to cut and in which direction of the strip to be locally cut, profile connectivity, and the warping effect generated at the punching point.

In most cases, the stamping dies used in fixed operations are similar to those used in stamping workshops, with only the stamping dies used on rolling forming production lines having a cycle of feeding, stopping, and performing processes. These organizations are very common structures that require special consideration of certain elements when planning. As follows:

1. Product direction.

2. Requirements for subsequent processing of profiles

3. The final product may be very long

4. Different length styles

5. The combination of the initial fixed punch and the subsequent flying punch.

2、 Flying die.

The functions of flying dies and fixed dies are the same, except for their different structures and installation methods. Fixed punching molds are fixed on machines that are used in the production of specific profiles or on low power rolling forming machine production lines. And the flying die can slide on the track, without the need to shut down during punching, which can greatly improve the production power of the equipment.

During the operation of the punch die, it follows the profile and accelerates from the initial position to the maximum speed. Then, it slows down, stops, accelerates in the opposite direction, slows down, and finally stops at the initial position. The required time for the entire stroke is generally between 0.15 seconds and 1.5 seconds.

The acceleration organization of the stamping die is generally installed on the fixed plate of the lower die, and the impact effect generated by the upper organization and the stamping die component during acceleration or deceleration. So, flying dies have higher strength support columns and guide rails than fixed molds.
