What kind of forming method does cold roll forming usually refer to

Nowadays, cold bending forming refers to the gradual bending of strip steel into the desired product shape through many rolling mills. In simple terms, it refers to the use of two specific rollers to roll and press the iron plate to form a fixed cross-section. Thus enhancing strength.

A metal plastic processing method for bending metal plates and strips into profiles (or parts) and welded pipe barrels (see roll forming) at room temperature. The generalized cold bending deformation includes bending, roll die bending, three roll bending, continuous roll rolling bending, and so on. Due to the large output of profiles and welded pipe barrels produced by continuous roll bending, the narrow definition of cold bending deformation refers to this specific type of tortuous deformation. Its product is called cold-formed profiles, and semi-finished products are welded pipe barrels.

Commonly used are low-carbon steel, aluminum, copper and other plate and strip materials, as well as stainless steel, titanium metal, and composite metal plates and strips. The thickness of carbon steel plate is 0.15~3.2mm, and the thickness of hot-rolled plate is 1.2~25.4mm. The thickness of the aluminum strip is 0.13~25.4mm. Many countries have been able to produce cold-formed steel sections with a thickness of up to 32mm. The width of the material is determined based on the unfolded length of the cross-section of the product. It is cut into plates and strips by a longitudinal shear machine and enters the forming unit. A pair of relatively rotating forming rollers are sequentially twisted into the required shape of the product.
